We drove somewhere (I still have no idea) into the mountains of Northern California where we found a small lake about the size of a football field. We launched the whaling vessel and commenced in what I like to call the "trout massacre of 1973". By the time we were done we had 20 or 30 fish in our bucket. As we made our way back towards the Jeep, we talked about the upcoming fish fry and how happy everyone would be when they saw how many we had caught.
As we were getting out of the boat, my Grandpa lost his balance and tipped the boat over just enough to dump the gas can for the trolling motor, right into our bucket of fish. My fishing adventures continued to bring many great moments in my life some hilarious and some not so hilarious. However it was not until my twenties that I rediscovered the fly rod.
My grandpa had a couple of old glass fly rods but neither one of us ever been too serious with them. When he passed away in the early nineties, I was left with one of those old glass rods, which still hangs on my wall at home. I met my good friend Bryan Yadon in the winter of '91 when I started guiding snowmobile trips out of Park City Utah. He had been guiding whitewater trips through the Grand Canyon since the eighties, so it didn't take long for me to pick up on what made the difference between a good trip, and a great trip.
I started guiding fly fishing trips out of Sundance in '93 and have personally guided between 100-130 fly fishing trips per year since then. I have had the pleasures of fishing with some of the most accomplished anglers in the world; along with a huge number of first time fly fishers.
In the summer of 2003, Bryan and I became business partners with the opening of Intermountain Guide Service. Our guiding service is compiled of some of the best guides in the western United States and if you've been with us before, you already know why we have a majority of return guests. With our several years of guiding experience, we have formed a guiding service that specializes in one thing-You!!! See you on the water.
